Catholic Schools Week 25th-31st January
Catholic Schools Week will be launched at masses within the parish on Sunday, January 25th.
First Holy Communion & Confirmation Programmes
A letter outlining details in relation to the First Holy Communion and Confirmation Programmes will be sent to families this week. The Board wishes the pupils, their families and their teachers the very best of luck in their preparations for these very special occasions over the coming months.
75th Anniversary Celebrations
The Board wishes to thank everyone who contributed to, supported and attended the school’s 75th Anniversary Celebration, which was a wonderful success.
Sincere thanks to science co-ordinator, Mrs Bleahene, for organising a range of exciting events for the school’s Science Week which took place before Christmas.
Meditation with Children
Meditation continues to take place twice weekly on Tuesdays and Fridays for a period ranging from 2 minutes (for Infants) up to a maximum of 12 minutes for 6th class. The BOM wishes to thank staff and pupils for their participation in this very valuable exercise.
The Board wishes to thank the priests of the parish for facilitating Christmas Confessions in the school.
The Board wishes to thank Fr Dan O’ Donovan for celebrating a lovely Mass with pupils and staff in the school hall on January 6th to celebrate the feast of the Epiphany.
Enrolment forms have been issued for the new school year 2015/2016. The Board will hold a special meeting to discuss enrolment after the closing date (Tuesday March 31st) for receipt of completed applications.
Primary Online Database Forms
Primary Online Database Forms have been issued to all families as directed by the Department of Education and Skills.
Literacy and Numeracy Scores at National Level
The recent report published by the Department of Education and Skills indicates significant improvements in both Literacy and Numeracy scores at national level. Staff, pupils and parents are commended for their hard work, commitment and dedication.
School Self Evaluation
The Board of Management supports the school in its ongoing engagement with the process of school self-evaluation. The current areas of focus include Literacy, Numeracy and Gaeilge.
Policy Review: Child Protection
The annual review of the school’s Child Protection Policy will take place this term. Please note that the Designated Liaison Person for Child Protection is Stephanie Keating, Principal and the Deputy Designated Liaison Person for Child Protection is Noel Lohan, Deputy Principal.
Stay Safe Programme
All classes are participating in the Stay Safe Programme during the months of January and February.
Relationships and Sexuality Education
Talk for 6th Class Pupils
Wednesday 4th March @ 7p.m. (Parents/Guardians Only) and Wednesday 11th March @ 7p.m. (Parents/Guardians and Pupils). Details will be issued to families later this month.
Bullying/Cyber Bullying Intervention and Prevention Workshop
The Board of Management has organised a workshop on Bullying/Cyber Bullying Intervention and Protection to take place in the school on Wednesday April 15th. This will involve a presentation to pupils, staff and parents. Details will be issued over the coming weeks.
The issue of parking around the school, especially at peak times, remains of concern to the Board of Management. The Board welcomes the ongoing support of the local Gardaí with this matter. Parents/guardians are asked to exercise extreme care and caution when dropping off and collecting children from the school. Please remind children not to cross the road at the speed ramps.

6th Class Christmas Play
Thank you for supporting the 6th Class Christmas Play which raised €210 for the Ballinasloe Branch of St Vincent de Paul.
Ballinasloe Social Services
The No Uniform Day held before Christmas raised €470 and the 4th Class Christmas Play raised €171, all of which will be donated to Ballinasloe Social Services. Thank you for your support.
Lions Club Christmas Hamper Appeal
Thank you for your food donations before Christmas, which enabled the Lions Club to distribute hampers within the locality.
St Brigid’s Day Crosses
Second and sixth classes class will continue this year with the tradition of making St Brigid’s Day crosses and all money raised will go to Ballinasloe Social Services.
The Board of Management thanks you for your support through the school’s Voluntary Contribution.
