1. The Board of Management welcomed Fr Daniel O’Donovan as its new chairperson.

2. Votes of Sympathy:

To Shane and Danika Dolan, teaching staff members on the death of their uncle, Mr Martin Dolan.

To Noel Lohan, Deputy Principal on the death of his mother, Mrs Bridie Lohan.

To the Flannery family on the death of Mr Dermot Mc Guirk.

To the Skelly Family on the death of Mrs Angela Skelly.

3. Congratulations

To teaching Staff member, Kiara Barrett on the birth of her son Lachlan

To teaching staff member, Sinead Cahalan on her team’s victory in the recent county final.

4. Active Living Committee

The BOM wishes to thank the school’s Active Living Committee who is currently working on a range of activities and resources to encourage increased physical activity among pupils. We will continue to build on this bank of resources over the coming years. The BOM also wishes the school well in its participation in the Active Flag Programme.

5. The BOM wishes to thank all of the staff and coaches involved in extra curricular activities.

Boys’ Hurling: Every Wednesday 3-4p.m. on the school pitch with Mr Liam Geraghty (Third to Sixth Classes)

Boys’ Football: Every Tuesday 3-4p.m. on the school pitch with Mr Mark Ronaldson (Third to Sixth Classes)

Girls’ Football: Every Monday 3.10p.m. – 4.10p.m. on the school pitch with Ms Fox and Mrs Claire Gallagher (Third to Sixth Classes)

Camogie Training: Every Thursday 3-4p.m. on the school pitch with Ms Cahalan and Ms Curtin (Third to Sixth Classes)

Spikeball Training: Every Thursday evening in the Emerald Ballroom 7.00p.m.-8.30p.m. with Mrs Caroline Gallagher and Ms Blade.

Band Practice Every Tuesday 3-4p.m. with Mrs Caroline Gallagher

6. Congratulations from the Board of Management to all those involved in the Peace Proms Concert, which took place in October. Sincere thanks to the 5th/6th Class Pupils and their teachers, Caroline Gallagher, Aine Bleahene, Mark Ronaldson and Aime Haynes. This was a wonderful occasion and the work of all involved is much appreciated.

7. Meditation with Children

Training for all staff in Meditation with Children took place on Wednesday November 5th. The staff has agreed to start this meditation with children on Tuesday 11th November. Pupils of all religions can participate. It will take place twice weekly on Tuesdays and Fridays for a period ranging from 2 minutes (for Infants) up to a maximum of 12 minutes for 6th class.

8. AED Refresher Course

Sincere thanks to Helen and Declan Harney for providing a refresher course to staff members in AED on November 6th. A second course for those new to the training will be provided on February 11th. A reminder to all in the school community that the school has an AED Unit.

9. In November We Remember

All classes are participating in “In November We Remember”. This is a lovely opportunity to remember those that have passed away.

10. School Self Evaluation

Year 3: Literacy and Numeracy and New Subject of Focus: Gaeilge

The Board of Management thanks all of those involved in this ongoing process.

11. Yellow Flag Award

Congratulations to all involved in achieving our first Yellow Flag, for being a truly inclusive and diverse school. This flag will be presented on November 18th and raised for the first time at the school’s 75th Anniversary celebrations.

12. Appreciation

The BOM thanks Mairead Canon for her work in the library and to Kate Madden for painting murals on the school wall.

13. 75th Anniversary

The BOM discussed and approved various proposals for the forthcoming 75th anniversary celebrations. Sincere thanks to all of the committee members, to the staff and to the many people within the school community who are working hard to ensure this day is a great success.

14. Treasurer’s Report

The treasurer presented a detailed report to the BOM. School accounts have been sent to the accountant for the annual independent review.
