Votes of Sympathy

The Board extends its sympathy to the following:

Ms Danika Dolan on the death of her uncle Mr Pat Skehill R.I.P.

Ms Catherina Concannon on the death of her mother, Mrs McAdams R.I.P.

The Casey Family on the death of Mrs Sheila Casey R.I.P.

First Holy Communion: 23/4/16 and Confirmation: 14/5/16

The Board wishes pupils, their families and their teachers the very best in their preparations for these sacraments over the coming months.

New School Inspector

The Board of Management looks forward to working with Mrs Anne Feerick, Divisional Inspector.

The Board wishes to acknowledge the great support of the school’s previous inspector, Ms Dolores de Bhál.

Student Council

The Board welcomes and supports the establishment of a Student Council within the school and wishes them well for the coming year.

National Educational Psychologist Service (NEPs)

Ms Breda Hand, the educational psychologist attached to the school, visited the school on October 6th in relation to her work with the school for the coming year.

Following a request by the Principal, the school has been informed by the psychologist that a place will be offered to two teaching staff members to attend the “Friends First Training Programme” which is facilitated by NEPs in the near future.

Creagh Parents’ Association

The Parents’ Association AGM was held on 30/9/2015. The Board supports and acknowledges the great work of our school’s Parents’ Association and wishes them well in the election of the officers at their next meeting on November 4th.

Staff Training

Gaeilge Facilitator

PDST Facilitator attended on 7/10/15. She worked with various classes throughout the day and facilitated a staff workshop after school hours.

Speech and Language Course

One Teacher and one SNA have recently completed a three day course.

Mata sa Rang:

The Board welcomes the extension of the Mata Sa Rang initiative to Second Class and wishes to thank all of the staff involved in implementing same. A word of thanks to staff engaged in additional training in this area.

Upcoming Events

The Board wishes all involved in the forthcoming events the very best of luck:

Science Week: Lots of activities being organised for Science Week, which takes place November 16th-20th. Many thanks to Science Co-ordinator, Aine Bleahene for her great work.

RDS Primary Science Fair/Offer of Exhibition Stand in Limerick:

Mrs Bleahene’s 5th Class have been successful in their application for an exhibition stand at the RDS Primary Science Fair on Friday 15th January 2016. Their work will be based on the following: Are Free Range Eggs Better for Cooking With?

Anti Bullying Week:

Nov 30th-December 4th. The Board supports the work being undertaken by the school to mark this important week.

Peace Proms Concert: The 5th/6th Class Pupils with their teachers, Mrs Caroline Gallagher, Mrs Aine Bleahene and Mr Mark Ronaldson will participate in Peace Proms in January 2016.

In November We Remember

During the month of November we remember in a special way all of those who have passed away. We remember in a special way pupils and staff in our school who have suffered a bereavement during the past year.

Parent Teacher Meetings November 2015 and January 2016

Parents will be meeting with class teachers on the dates specified in the recent newsletter.

A Word of Thanks

School Library

The Board wishes to thank one of our parents, Ms Mairead Canon for continuing her great work in our school library. The Board is very grateful to Mairead for her time and efforts. Sincere thanks also to those who very kindly donated books to our library.

Extra Curricular Activities

The Board wishes to thank all of those involved in providing extra curricular activities for our pupils.

Outgoing Board of Management

The members of the outgoing Board, whose term of office (2011-2015) comes to an on November 30th 2015, extends its sincere thanks to the Principal and Staff for their ongoing dedication, commitment and loyalty. The process of electing members to the new Board is currently underway, as per Circular 0052/2015 and Governance Manual for Primary Schools 2015-2019. Treasurer’s Report

The Treasurer presented her report to the BOM. The end of year school accounts will now be forwarded to the independent accountant.

Date of the First Meeting of the New Board of Management

This date will be confirmed following the completion of the election process.
