April Newsletter

Dear Parents/Guardians,

New Staff Member

Welcome to the teaching staff of Creagh NS to Ms Danika Dolan (Junior Infants).

Access to School from Creagh Church

Please note that there is access to the school once again from the church side. Motorists are asked to travel very slowly around the church and to use the one-way system, keeping to the left when dropping off and collecting pupils.

Confirmation: Saturday May 18th in St Michael’s Church. We wish our sixth class pupils and their teachers, Mrs Caroline Gallagher and Mr Shane Dolan the best of luck over the coming weeks.

Congratulations to our Credit Union Quiz Team, Anna Kelly, Matthew Devine, Oisín Carroll, Chloe Johnston and team mentor, Mrs Áine Bleahene on their All Ireland success recently in the RDS Dublin. Sincere thanks to Ballinasloe Credit Union especially Niall Clarke, Noel Madden and William Duthie. In addition to individual prizes, the pupils have won in total €1025.00 for the school. This money will go towards buying resources, from which all of the pupils will benefit.

Community Games Success

Congratulations to all the pupils from Creagh NS on their outstanding achievements in swimming, chess, rugby and art in the recent Connaught Finals of the Community Games. We wish them the best of luck in the next round.

Scór na bPáistí

Creagh NS was very well represented at the recent round of Scór na bPáistí. Best of luck to our dancers and singers who have qualified for the next round.

Creagh Science Committee & Creagh Science Website

Please visit our wonderful science website on http://science-creaghns.weebly.com to see the great work of the Science Committee, under the watchful eye of our science co-ordinator Mrs Áine Bleahene . The pupils have been involved in a wide range of science activities and investigations since last September. The many articles written by members of the Science Committee along with some great photographs and video clips can be viewed on this website. In addition, read all about the school’s entry for the Greenwave Project. Many thanks to the committee and to Mrs Bleahene for their trojan work.

Invitations to Birthday Parties

We kindly request from September 2013, that invitations to birthday parties will no longer be distributed through the school. It can be a sensitive area, resulting in unintentional upset to some pupils. Thank you for your full co-operation in this regard.

First Holy Communion

Our best wishes to the two second classes who will receive their First Holy Communion on April 27th in St Michael’s Church at 11a.m. Thank you to their class teachers, Ms Regina Power & Ms Emer O’ Sullivan and to Fr Mc Inerney for the wonderful work they are doing in preparing them for this sacrament. Many thanks to the pupils in the choir, to the organist Ms Sinéad Cahalan and choir director Mrs Caroline Gallagher. We wish all the families involved a very special and happy day.

The Parents’ Association is hosting a small celebration for the two second classes and their families in the school hall on Sunday 28th April after 10.30a.m. Mass. We are very grateful to them for the many activities they organise in support of our school.

Please do not hesitate to contact me here at the school if I can be of any assistance to you during this last term.

Le gach dea ghuí,

Principal, Stephanie Keating.
