November Newsletter

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Whole School Evaluation

The school has received very positive feedback from the Primary School Inspectorate following the recent whole school evaluation. A report will be issued by the Department of Education and Skills over the coming weeks. This report will be available to all parents/guardians through the DES website www.education.ie and through our school website www.creaghns.com

Opening Time for School

The official opening time for school is 9.20a.m. However, a number of pupils are being dropped off well in advance of this time.  The Board of Management wishes to remind all Parents/Guardians that pupils should not be dropped off early as they are not supervised on the school grounds at this time.

The issue of parking, when dropping off and collecting pupils, is of ongoing concern to the Board of Management. The health and safety of our pupils is our priority at all times. The Board of Management, with the support of the Parents’ Association, the local Gardaí and the school’s safety committee are meeting to see how the problem in relation to parking at these peek times might be alleviated.

At this point, we strongly urge you to note the following:

  • Please exercise extreme caution and show consideration for local residents when parking near the school.
  • We ask you to refrain from making u-turns, as this is an extremely dangerous manoeuvre.
  • There is parking the Creagh Church side of the school, which would ask you to consider using, particularly for those coming from the Athlone side.
  • Pupils living near the school might consider walking/cycling in an effort to reduce the volume of traffic. Ensure that helmets are worn when cycling and that you exercise extreme care.

Your full co-operation is essential in order to ensure everyone’s safety.

Parent Teacher Meetings for Infant Classes

Parents of pupils in Junior and Senior Infants will have an opportunity to meet with the class teachers in early February. By this time pupils will have completed assessment tests. If you have any concerns prior to this meeting, please contact the school to arrange an earlier appointment.
